Toronto Police Thumbnail Sketches!

Image
This is the first thumbnail I created for this project! I followed through with creating the goofy funky type of cartoon style. I wanted to showcase Toronto Police in what looked like the typical city street in Toronto, Ontario with the type. I really enjoyed creating this one- and feel it could be a really fun way of grabbing the eye of viewers. This is the second concept I created in the thumbnail stage. I wanted this to stay kind of "emoticon" ish. I was seeking a very easy- and visually readable piece as this is a completely different way of conveying a message than the example above. I really wanted to showcase variety with this project- showing how advanced and how simple I can vary through my designs. I incorporated the Toronto flag in the middle of our little "police" world.  I have different ages, genders, disabilities etc.. all incorporated into this design. I really like this one as well- as I think it would be a really cool punch on an Instagram ad.

Toronto Police Brainstorm Sketches

Image
This week I was instructed to complete a few thumbnail sketches for the Toronto Police department recruiting ad. Although these are very loose and rough- I feel each of my concepts may hold potential for what the client is searching for. My first sketch is a united circle- with different job titles- such as police constables, parking enforcement, etc.. In the center I would have the Toronto flag- with the tag line they provided " One Career, Many opportunities". I feel this idea portrays community- and strong relationships within the field which can be a very important trait in the workforce. My second sketch is having a variety of cartoon esk drawings of different police job ranks- all different cultures, ages and ranks all together in front of Toronto's streets. In the background,  I thought it would be cool to incorporate the sun on the horizon- but filled with multicultural flags of the world- a lot of which make up Toronto's culture! My third sketch is pr

Story Board-colour!

This is the second part of my assignment for storyboarding the grim reaper- but with colour! I had lots of fun playing around and using the digital brushes. I believe I was pretty successful at achieving what I wanted- just still getting used to how the layers and digital workspace works. If I could add anything- I would print it out and go ontop with my pencil crayons to make it more crisp!

Story Board- Line Art!

Image
This week- I was assigned to complete a line art storyboard of the grim reaper- taking a bubble bath! This was to be completed with our Wacom drawing tablet- which as I stated before I am brand new at using!! So be kind :) The first frame was supposed to represent the grim reaper turning on a shower CD player. The second frame was supposed to represent the grim reaper lighting candles and running the bath. The third frame was supposed to represent the grim reaper adding bubble bath (LOL)- and the fourth was supposed to have him curled up in a ball- reading a magazine fully dressed in his robe. This is my take on it! Stay tuned for the full-colour rendering next week!

02/02/2020 Fist Wacom Painting!

Today I started my very first attempt at digital painting. In class, we were assigned to find a photo of someone you would like to attempt a portrait of. I chose my boyfriend! Above you can see the first stage of the drawing- the line art.  I then began to ass some intense tones and small amounts of highlights. I used the polygon tool in photoshop for the first time- selecting an area to quickly fill up space was really beneficial compared to color book drawing. This is my complete greyscale! :) I then wanted to take this assignment a little further- and see if I could add some life to the greyscale portrait. I LOVE colour so I chose to take it a step further for my own benefit. I believe the blue and salmony orange colour really contrasted well- and really made the shadow parts on my subject pop!
